Fresenius Kidney Care maintains dialysis services amid
    Hurricane Isaias recovery

Emergency generators, water tankers, and coordinated response efforts helped maintain access to life-sustaining dialysis care across the Florida Panhandle.
As communities across the Florida Panhandle recover from Hurricane Isaias, Fresenius Kidney Care (FKC) has resumed operations at its facilities across the affected region, following a coordinated response to widespread power outages, water interruptions, and other infrastructure challenges.

Ahead of the hurricane, local clinical and biomedical teams secured facilities, prepared emergency equipment, and positioned resources to support patients throughout the storm. These preparations proved critical when nine facilities experienced utility power outages and relied on emergency generators to continue operations. The preparedness and response efforts were supported by the company’s nearby dedicated disaster response facility, which maintains emergency supplies and equipment for deployment throughout the region.

One example was in Milton, Florida, where municipal water service was disrupted, FKC deployed a water tanker in less than 24 hours allowing the center to continue providing dialysis despite the loss of city water. Given the amount of fluid replaced during dialysis treatments, a consistent and clean water system is critical to keeping patients safe and healthy.

Centers across the Panhandle that closed Saturday as a precaution resumed treatments Sunday, with nearly all facilities operating as scheduled. When a Gulf Breeze center experienced a temporary storm-related plumbing issue Monday morning, patients were redirected to a nearby FKC facility while repairs were completed. The issue was resolved by 9 a.m.

Local teams also continued outreach in communities where cellular service disruptions have made communication difficult. FKC also deployed personal generators and arranged temporary accommodations to support employees and their families affected by power outages and storm damage.

As of Monday, five facilities remained operational on generator power, while utility restoration efforts continued. All FKC staff have been accounted for, and no significant patient or staff safety incidents have been reported.

While recovery efforts continue across the region, FKC remains focused on maintaining access to life-sustaining dialysis treatment and supporting patients and staff affected by the storm.
